Yoga is a great way to exercise, no matter your age, physical shape, or ability. Generations of people have been practicing yoga and it has grown in popularity over the past few decades. It is a series of movements that focuses on breathing, meditation, and movement. Yoga is focused on integrating the body with the mind and spirit to reach a stage of enlightenment. It is a mental and physical form of exercise. Yoga will help strengthen and stretch your muscles. While you may feel the intensity of the yoga deep in your muscles, you should not feel sharp or intense pain.


While yoga may look scary to someone that has never tried it, you do not have to be an expert to enjoy it. Beginner yoga is an excellent introduction to yoga. However, it does require some strength and stamina, so it is best to start with the most basic and straightforward class you can find until you learn the poses. When first trying yoga, you may want to sign up for a beginner, restorative or gentle class. But no matter what class you choose, Alchemy instructors can modify the practice and help you get into poses safely and correctly.
