Here's What Others Have to Say
"For years I sincerely wanted to learn how to do yoga. However, I can be pretty shy and awkward in new situations and environments so I could never bring myself to sign up or drop in for any classes. I was familiar with Rachel as she had taught my daughters yoga. I knew her to be warm, pleasant, patient and compassionate so when I happened upon her new yoga studio's Facebook page, offering yoga classes for adults there was no question in my mind that she was the instructor I would like to help me begin learning yoga. In particular, her write-up emphasized how her studio was not one of judgement nor was it a fashion show but a place of support and acceptance and light. Indeed, from the first moment I stepped in to the studio I felt genuinely accepted and encouraged by Rachel. You can tell that yoga is a way of life for her and that she truly cares about the people who are learning from and with her. Whether you've been too shy or nervous to begin practicing yoga or you've already had experience, I would encourage you to sign up for a class (or two!) at Alchemy Yoga Studio with Rachel. Namaste."
I had wanted to try yoga, but I was always able to talk myself out of it. I was armed with excuses like, not being fit or flexible enough, not having patience, and not being able to be still for any amount of time. What if I can’t do any of the poses? I’ll be the worst yogi ever, I thought. Finally, I decided it was time to try it. Rachel was recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to take the plunge. I was not disappointed! I arrived to my first class, terrified. Rachel welcomed me into the studio, and was very friendly and helpful (not intimidating at all). The space is small and intimate, the classes are the same. Not once, did I feel uncomfortable or judged. Rachel is encouraging and knowledgeable, and explains the benefits and modifications of the poses as we go through them. She pours her heart into her practice and I’m so glad that she’s able to share her love of yoga with others. I’ve learned quite a bit about myself throughout this journey, most importantly, that YES, I can do yoga. Rachel and her studio, Alchemy Yoga & Wellness, are amazing. I would highly recommend that if you are nervous about starting a yoga practice, or are looking for an amazing instructor, please take the time to check out Rachel. You will not be disappointed.
I've been practicing yoga with Rachel for about 2 years now and I absolutely love the welcoming and supportive environment that she creates. Every class taken with Rachel has been great. She's very knowledgeable and truly cares about her students' growth. I love practicing with her.
Turning 38 this January, I realized how close to 40 I'm getting and I haven't really done much of anything for myself. Sure I have made New Years Resolutions before that lasted, ohhh maybe 3 days tops. Less sugar, lose weight, eat healthily, quit smoking. If it was something I didn't like about myself I'd say I'd do it but never stuck with it. Until now! This year I said to myself that instead of taking something away from myself, I was going to do something more for myself. I was going to branch out to something different. Something that was going to challenge me. I was going to open my mind and see what happens. That's when I just happen to come across my friend Rachel's post that she was teaching yoga and meditation. It quickly caught my attention. I picked up the phone and asked my best friend if she'd like to try it with me. I may not be shy, but I'm not one to go and try something new alone. When she said yes we quickly signed up in January! I was quite nervous and really didn't know what to expect. Did I mention that I'm 5'3" and 240lbs that I have suffered from a bad back for the past 15 years to the point that something as simple as doing up my own shoes seemed impossible some days. Add arthritis and degenerative disc disease in there and you will understand that yoga was definitely not something I thought I was capable of. I am not fit in any way shape or form and of course I always figured yoga people are all bendy and healthy fit people. But I was going to give it a shot. If I didn't like it, I'd allow myself to give up like all my other crazy resolutions before. I totally wasn't expecting how it would change my life! Here I am 4 MONTHS later and I absolutely love it. I can bend over and tie my own shoes! Without pain! The classes are awesome. They are nice and quite intimate classes and I love and admire Rachel for her strength and kind nature. I never feel out of place, I don't feel like because I can't bend as far or move as much as everyone that I shouldn't be there. I look forward to practice every week and sometimes crave it during the week! So much so that I have already planned on signing up for the next session before finishing one!
I've been taking yoga classes with Rachel for over a year now, and I absolutely can't imagine taking a class anywhere else! She puts so much thought and love into each class. For example during the winter she would do classes that boost the immune system through specific yoga poses, and she would explain why they were beneficial. I also find that she has a peaceful and joyful spirit that has such a positive effect on her students. I love going to her classes and I am so grateful to have her in my life! I definitely recommend her classes to anyone looking to add a yoga practice to their personal well being routine!
